Introduction

During the two half-days workshops being held on December 6-7 will focus on Advancements in Offshore Gas Management and Microchannel Heat Exchangers for Natural Gas.

Day 1, December 6, 2005: Advancements in Offshore Gas Management
Increasingly, natural gas processes are being marinized to monetize offshore stranded gas. This year, several milestones are being achieved, which will be discussed the first day, including:

1. The first off-loading of a regas ship
2. The construction of the first barge-mounted LNG trains
3. The installation of the first purpose built LPG FPSO
4. The construction of new super sized gas-fired power ships
5. The start of construction of a gravity-based LNG receiving terminal

We will also review seven technologies for offshore gas monetization that are proceeding to commercialization, including direct conversion of natural gas to liquids through acidification, Fischer-Tropsch GTL, methanol, power, offshore CNG and LNG.

Offshore Liquefaction will also be discussed and will provide an overview of the technical challenges of marinizing liquefaction, storage, loading, unloading and regas systems; the different processes for making LNG and the associated liquefaction systems; the different systems and the sensitivities to these systems on offshore (floating or gravity based) structures; and the different LNG offshore systems currently proposed by operators.

Day 2, Dec 7, 2005: Microchannel Heat Exchangers for Natural Gas
On the second day we will review the state of development of a potential breakthrough technology that could achieve more compact and efficient offshore gas microchannel heat exchangers. Technology for microchannel heat exchangers is advancing rapidly, promising to greatly reduce the size of heat exchange systems within gas processing plants and chemical plants. The challenges lie in scaling up the manufacturing limits of the exchangers to handle large throughput volumes.

Those in attendance will hear speakers from Velocys, Chart Industries, Heatric and others. Click here for agenda.
