Agenda

Objectives

Day 1: LNG's Expanding Fleet of Regas Ships - How Large Will It Grow?
  • Identify planned regas ship projects; discuss total potential size and potential locations for buoys worldwide.
  • Discuss lessons learned from the initial regas ship project offshore of Louisiana.
  • Compare regas economics to conventional terminals and discuss their complentary aspects to understand how regas turrets and buoys might compete with conventional terminals.
  • Review the value of supplementing LNG supply from shore-based facilities.
  • Consider the technical and economic implications of regas ships relative to conventional terminals.
  • Discuss the challenges of cold-water vaporization and whether existing carriers can be converted to regasification duty safely and thereby shorten the delivery window for additional regas ships.
  • Examine how the U.S. moratorium on seawater vaporizers will affect regas economics.
  • Consider how new technology like Remora's HiLoad terminal might expand regas ship availability
Day 2: U.S Seawater Vaporization: Getting to Resolution
  • Learn of the principal challenges to seawater vaporization and discuss possible technologies to overcome them.
  • Learn of NOAA's concerns and timing for decisions on whether seawater systems are viable and the effect on "the clock" for U.S. Coast Guard deepwater port license approvals.
  • Discuss EPA's perspectives and whether technologies might be used to reduce the entrainment and impingement of marine organisms.
  • Learn of biocide hazards and new technologies to minize heat-exchange fouling.
  • Discuss at least one alternative proposed for offshore seawater vaporization.
