Bill
Bishop is V.P. Engineering with Conversion Gas
Imports, LP. He holds several patents on the vaporization
and storage of LNG as well as patents on marine
transport of CNG and on solution mining. He is
the former V.P. Engineering of PB-KBB, Inc., a
company involved in solution mining and hydrocarbon
storage, where he was responsible for the solution
mining of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Prior
to that Bill worked with the Aerospace Corp. on
ICBM heat shield design. He has degrees in Geology
and in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in
fluid flow.
William
T. Hogarth, assistant administrator for fisheries,
NOAA
Dr.
William T. Hogarth was appointed the Assistant
Administrator for Fisheries at the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration in September 2001.
He oversees the management and conservation of
marine fisheries and the protection of marine
mammals, sea turtles and coastal fisheries habitat
within the United States exclusive economic zone.
The National Marine Fisheries Service protects
and preserves the Nation's living marine resources
through scientific research, fisheries management,
law enforcement, and habitat conservation. His
focus is on rebuilding and sustaining fisheries
and protected species to their long-term potential
and maintaining a delicate balance of achieving
multiple objectives that produce the greatest
benefits to the Nation. The agency's budget for
fiscal year 2006 is $784 million and employs over
2,800 employees in 6 regions, 6 science centers
and 12 laboratories in 15 states. The agency's
headquarters is in Silver Spring, Maryland, outside
Washington, D.C. Dr. Hogarth's background and
experience has focused on a wide range of environmental,
scientific, and marine policy issues. He also
serves as the United States Government Commissioner
and Chairman for the International Commission
for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas and the
International Whaling Commission.
Jens
P. Kaalstad, president, Advanced Production and
Loading Inc.
Jens
P. Kaalstad is the President of Advanced Production
and Loading Inc. and has over 20 years experience
in the shipping and offshore industry. He graduated
with a MSc in Naval Architecture from the Norwegian
Institute of Technology in 1983 after also serving
one year at MIT, Department of Ocean Engineering
in 1980-81.
Jens joined and helped establish APL Inc in Houston
in September 1997 where he first served as Technical
Director until August 1999. He has been very actively
involved in the development of APL's new Deepwater
Offloading systems and the Energy Bridge -
Worlds first Offshore LNG Terminal project.
Prior to joining APL Inc., he was with Aker Marine
Contractors for 10 years where he was responsible
for or involved in marine operations and installation
activities on numerous offshore projects around
the world.
Jens P. Kaalstad started his career with Kvaerner
Ship Equipment division designing Cargo Hatch
covers and self-unloading systems and he worked
as onboard computer system consultant with Data
Ship A.S. before joining the Norwegian offshore
industry.
Tony
LaValle, president, Chicago Power & Process
Tony LaValle has been with Chicago Power &
Process since 1991 and has sixteen (16) years
of heat transfer experience.
CP&P's main focus is tied to the LNG vaporizer
industry. The company is presently has orders
for Shell & Tube LNG vaporizers for Freeport
LNG, Cove Point and Excelerate Energy.
Tony has a BS in Chemical Engineering from the
University of Buffalo, New York and is a License
Professional Engineering.
Dreas
Nielsen, Exponent
Mr. Dreas Nielsen is a Managing Scientist in Exponent's
EcoSciences practice. He specializes in the management
and analysis of environmental data, primarily
related to marine and estuarine environments.
Mr. Nielsen's principal technical interest is
in biological responses to chemical contaminants
and other stressors. His approach to scientific
topics focuses on analytical and quantitative
methods, with an emphasis on statistics, modeling,
and computer applications. Mr. Nielsen has carried
out, participated in, and managed the collection
and analysis of biological, physical, chemical,
and geographic data from sites throughout the
United States. These sites include marine and
estuarine sites on the east, Gulf, and west coasts,
including Alaska; freshwater sites around the
Great Lakes; and terrestrial sites throughout
the United States. Potential impacts at these
sites have been associated with heavy manufacturing,
petrochemical manufacturing, wood treatment, wood
pulp and paper production, shipbuilding, mining,
and smelting. Mr. Nielsen's experience with these
sites has covered a broad range of contaminants,
media, exposures, and biological responses.
Joe
Nelson, manager, Mustang Engineering
Joe Nelson has thirty-eight years total experience
in design engineering, quality assurance, construction,
project engineering, and project management. His
fields of experience include LNG plant/ transportation/regasification,
refinery/petrochemical industries, pipelines (onshore
and offshore), oil production facilities (onshore
and offshore), and nuclear/coal-fired power plants.
He started his career with CBI building Aluminum
LNG tanks aboard new LNG carriers in Genoa Italy.
He worked for Bechtel for 17 years where he worked
on grass roots LNG facilities. He currently serves
as Mustang's Midstream Engineering Manager. Joe
is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas
and holds several U.S. mechanical patents.
Bob
Nimocks, president, Zeus Development Corporation
Zeus Development Corporation is an energy research
firm that focuses on world gas development. The
company commonly serves manufacturing and oilfield
service clients evaluating markets for their products
and services in the LNG, GTL, methanol, DME, IGCC
and gas-export-related markets. Zeus publishes
a number of market-related periodicals, including
the www.LNGExpress.com,
www.SyngasRefiner.com
and www.GasMonetizer.com
and organizes workshops, conferences and training
programs.
Prior to founding Zeus in 1991, Nimocks was vice
president of corporate development for Elders
Resources North America, the North American division
of an international energy and natural resources
company with substantial natural gas production.
He earned an MBA from Harvard University (1987),
served in the management consulting division of
Accenture (1981-84) and obtained BS and BBA degrees
from Mississippi State University (1981).
Lars
Odeskaug, president, TORP Technology
Lars Odeskaug has a degree in Mechanical Engineering
from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland
1976. He started his career with Brown & Root,
and worked on various projects in the North Sea
until 1987. He formed his own company and did
consulting work within project management in the
oil and gas business from 1987 to 1993. In 1993
he joined APL in Norway, and was the Project Manager
for the Heidrun STL Project, before he became
the President of Hitec Marine in 1994. In 2002
he incorporated Remora Technology and moved to
the United States. Today he is the CEO of TORP
Technology in Houston.
Richard
M. Paglia, vice president, Market Development, SUEZ
LNG NA LLC
Rich joined the Suez/Tractebel group in 1999
and has held various positions over the past 6
years within the North America business units.
His areas of responsibility have been focused
on Sales, Marketing, Trading, Portfolio Management
and Business Development.
In his current role as Vice President, Market
Development for SUEZ LNG North America, Rich's
responsibilities include the development of new
business ventures for the New England and Northeast
US LNG business, including new products and services
for existing markets, as well as the development
of new business opportunities.
Prior to joining Tractebel, Rich began his career
in the energy industry working for Coastal Gas
Marketing Company in their Northeast sales, marketing
and trading group. Rich remained with Coastal
until joining the Suez group in 1999.
Rich received degrees in Economics and Spanish;
both from Boston College.
Currently, Rich is managing all aspects of the
development of SUEZ's proposed $900 million Neptune
offshore LNG terminal.
Dr.
Craig Swanson, principal, Applied Science Associates
Dr. Craig Swanson is a founder of and principal
at Applied Science Associates, Inc., Narragansett,
RI. He received his Ph.D. from the University
of Rhode Island in Ocean Engineering. He has been
actively involved in the development and application
of hydrodynamic, constituent transport, water
quality, sediment transport and hazardous material
spill computer models for rivers, lakes, estuarine,
coastal and shelf use. Model application areas
and associated field programs have included sites
in both marine and freshwater environments.
Dr. Swanson has directed the application of these
models to solve many types of surface water problems.
These include assessing the potential impacts
of suspended sediment plumes from construction
of onshore and offshore LNG terminals, pipelines
and cables; and impacts of thermal plumes from
LNG regasification operations and electrical generation
facilities on the temperature distributions in
receiving waters. He has also assessed the impacts
of waterfront construction on circulation and
flushing; dredging and disposal activities on
circulation and water quality; discharges from
wastewater treatment and desalination plants and
other facilities on water quality; and the effects
of both land- and water-based nutrient loading
on water quality.
Dr. Swanson has appeared as an expert witness
in hydrodynamics and water quality before various
agencies at hearings as well as in legal proceedings.
He has participated as a speaker in many conferences
and has spoken often to various technical and
lay audiences explaining project results and findings.
John
Wolff, director, LNG, Zeus Development Corporation
John Wolff joined Zeus Development in 2004. He has
over 30 years of experience in the energy business.
Prior to joining Zeus Development, he was a partner
in Brett & Wolff LLC. He prepared various
studies on CNG, LNG and biogas. He prepared an
economic assessment and design evaluation for
transporting natural gas as either CNG or LNG
on the Amazon River for American Commercial Barge
Lines and Petrobras. He contributed to Zeus' CNG
Ocean Transport Study 2004.
Mr. Wolff had also been the Manager of Business
Development for Panhandle Eastern's and then Duke
Energy's LNG marketing and sales business that
imported LNG at the Trunkline LNG terminal. He
prepared models to improve business decisions
in the business units that included the affiliated
LNG shipping business, the LNG importing/marketing
business and the Trunkline LNG terminal. He prepared
joint venture agreements and technology assessments
to increase the profitability of the Trunkline
LNG terminal, including gas processing and cold
recovery projects. He helped structure short-term
LNG purchase contracts and assessed aspects of
the long-term LNG contract between Duke Energy
and Sonatrach.
Kent
B. Woodburn, ecotoxicologist, Dow Chemical Company
Kent Woodburn is the Technical Leader of the
Environmental Toxicology Group at The Dow Chemical
Company in Midland, Michigan. His responsibilities
there include management of activities on all
acute, chronic, and life-cycle ecotoxicologic
studies, directing bioconcentration and metabolism
studies with fish and invertebrate species, and
ecological risk assessments. Kent's scientific
publications and presentations include papers
on the photodegradation of chemicals in aquatic
systems, measurement of fish endocrine biomarkers,
the bioconcentration and metabolism of chemicals
in fish and invertebrates, and ecological risk
assessments of biologically-active compounds.
Kent is a native of Maryland, just outside of
Washington, D.C., and he completed a B.S. degree
in Chemistry with honors at the University of
Maryland in College Park. He then obtained his
master's degree in Water Chemistry at the University
of Wisconsin-Madison and has a Ph.D. degree in
Environmental Chemistry from the University of
Florida. He is a member of SETAC and a reviewer
for numerous environmental journals.
